Our lives get busy in our middle years when careers, families, and everything else compete for our time. TileHour brings women together to play Mahjong, a game with just the right balance of mental stimulation and relaxation, and makes it easy to keep coming back.
No organizing the group, no chasing RSVPs. Just show up, play, and enjoy…as often as you like. Whether you're Mahjong-curious or have been playing for years, our games are friendly, social, and welcoming—not intensely competitive.
Join a Community
TileHour launches one community at a time. Games start when we reach 50 founding members in a location. You'll pay a low monthly membership fee for access to regular TileHour games – no per game fees.
We host at local venues
We coordinate weekly American Mahjong games at local restaurants, cafés and other welcoming spaces. Join as often as you like each month. Want a spontaneous game? Name a day, a time, and anyone you'd like to invite first. We take it from there.
Millie handles the rest
Our club concierge, Millie, handles all club logistics by text to keep the tables full and games running smoothly. She'll manage attendance, send out reminders, and help make your TileHour experience a little more personal.

Many organized Mahjong games charge $25 or more every time you play. TileHour is designed differently: one simple membership that makes it easy to play regularly and be part of a local community. The membership fee is designed to cover the ongoing costs of running TileHour—including club operations and Millie, your TileHour concierge.
The goal isn't to maximize revenue — it's to create something that keeps serving women for years to come.
Founded by two friends who love the game – and what it brings out in people.
TileHour was founded by two Harvard Business School classmates who share a love of Mahjong and a belief that one of the best ways to build community is to gather around a table on a regular basis.
Jessica has loved Mahjong since living in Shanghai after graduating from Yale. She later co-founded Wootric, an AI-powered customer experience platform, growing it from an idea to a successful acquisition by InMoment. Throughout her career, she's helped companies build products people love and bring them to market, and she believes Mahjong is one of the most enjoyable ways to create lasting connections.
Divya discovered Mahjong recently and was immediately drawn to how naturally it brings women together. Over the past two decades, she's built products and led teams at companies including Google, LendingClub, and Solana, spanning everything from fintech and commerce to AI. She believes technology can remove the friction of bringing people together, making it easier to build vibrant local communities around a game people love.

No. Whether you're Mahjong-curious, have only played a few games, or have been playing for years, you're welcome at TileHour. Our games are designed to be friendly, social, and welcoming—not intensely competitive.
If you're a complete beginner, we'll help familiarize you with the game before attending your first TileHour.
No. Each TileHour community welcomes women from the surrounding towns as well.
Each TileHour community launches once it reaches 50 Founding Members.
We'll host games at welcoming local venues such as restaurants, cafés, country clubs, and community spaces.
We'll begin with the game times that work best for our Founding Members. As the community grows, we'll add more games and additional time slots.
The first 50 Founding Members receive their first two months free after launch. After that, membership is $12 per month.
Members who join after the Founding Member period begin paying the $12 monthly membership when they join.
No. TileHour doesn't charge per-game fees. If a venue has a food or beverage minimum, members simply pay the venue directly.
Games are first come, first served. If a game is full, you can join the waitlist, and we'll notify you if a seat opens up. As demand grows, we'll add more games and additional time slots.
You'll need your own current National Mah Jongg League card. If you're new to Mahjong, we'll let you know where to purchase the official card.
Mahjong sets are brought by our volunteer Table Captains, so you won't need to bring a set.
Millie is your TileHour concierge. She coordinates games, answers questions over text, sends reminders, keeps you in the loop, and helps make your TileHour community feel a little more personal.
No problem. Membership gives you access to your TileHour community—you choose the games that fit your schedule.
Absolutely. We love meeting new people. If your friend enjoys their first game with us, we'd encourage them to become a TileHour member so they can continue playing and become part of the community.
